Day #27 – Beattyville, KY to Berea, KY – 55 miles / 89 km

“Good morning, Mom and Dad!” – it’s nice for the parents to wake up to these words, almost every day.

Riding in 103°F, sunscreen doesn’t stay for long, no matter how “sweat proof” it claims to be. The boys wear long sleeve shirts most of the time.

Looking at the picture, you can see the panniers over Janos’ back wheel. These are similar to those he plans to buy tomorrow for the front wheel. The store had set them aside for him.

Two days of the last week the boys rode less than ideal (yesterday and on Janos’ birthday). Today the two bicyclist they’ve met on day #16, caught up with them. They are now staying in the same motel, and as of our afternoon phone conversation, they planned to go to have dinner together.

States: 5 Total: 1188 miles / 1912 km

  1. Meeting up with other bikers from an earlier meeting must have been fun. What might not be fun is riding in 100+ degree weather with no break in sight. Take care and we appreciate all you are doing to help empower blind & visually impaired individuals to learn more about blind judo and the Blind Judo Foundation. Thank you!
