Day #15 – Mineral, VA to Charlottesville, VA – 43 miles / 69 km

The brothers planned to ride to a bicycle store to buy spokes, as Janos has already used up all ten spare spokes, and he is still missing three. When they arrived to Charlottesville, they found the store closed. They decided not to ride on to the camp site, but to spend the night next to the store.

  1. The resourcefulness of the two Kabai brothers is very impressive. Don’t panic just fix the problem. Sorry to hear the mechanical problems you are encountering but once again life shows up and Peter and Janos are handling the it well. Thank you as you continue to support the Blind Judo Foundation with your mission to raise funds for blind and visually impaired individuals by riding across the USA. 2. Someday you will look back at what you accomplished and will just sit back and smile and think of all the people you met, the things you saw and all the experience’s you had on your great journey. You are two great kids with great parents who supports your dreams and lets you accomplished them. Always good to read your daily Blog. We look forward to the day you cross the Golden Gate Bridge……….Willy Cahill

  3. Nice picture there of the Virginia countryside. The roads looks pretty rough but scenic. As for the broken spokes, not sure if this has already been done, but generally after a few hundred miles, you normally retighten the spokes in both wheels. Otherwise they will wear and break at the point where they connect to the hub. You can check the spoke tension by putting your thumb on one spoke and your fingers on the next and squeeze. They should give a little if you squeeze hard.
